Who I Am

An Objective Advocate For Your Business

I am driven in a passionate but mindful way to deliver value to friends, colleagues and my EOS clients. I prefer to spend time with people who provide value of their own—not monetary value, although like-mindedness often leads to that, but the emotional value provided by those who are themselves vital, passionate, and engaged. People appreciate my tactful approach to decision making, as well as the method it invariably produces. That may be because I choose to look beyond the superficial and into the nuance; hopefully, I can even glimpse the profound. It’s natural to resist a cliché that applies to one’s self, but I have learned to embrace still waters run deep.

I started InFlow Advisory last fall as the forum for my practice as a Professional EOS Implementer™. EOS, which stands for Entrepreneurial Operating System, is without question the best way for me to meld my business experience—especially my experience with entrepreneurial leadership teams—and my life-long fascination with business models. It also fills my need for meaningful affiliation with people who create and grow businesses—people, if you will, who have the courage and drive to make something out of nothing.

John Masefield

John Masefield’s Sea Fever is an elegant and completely unpretentious poem. It’s about being who you really are and living the way you really want to live. What does that mean to you? Do you yearn for it most as a spouse, a parent, a business leader, or in some other context?
Life and its routine can do that to us—drive us to respond to what Masefield describes as “… a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied.”
Yet, even as Masefield yearns for something else, he wraps his yearning in the context of “… a tall ship and a star to steer her by.” If you were to give in to your desire to be who you really are and live the way you really want to live, what ship would you choose to transport you, and what star would you use to fix your course?
The tools you need to get there are already at your disposal—the sextant to determine where you really are; the compass to confirm your direction, and the eyeglass to keep you focused on the horizon. All you need is a set of resolute values and the desire to make the voyage.

What I Do

As a Professional EOS Implementer™, I help business owners and their leadership teams get what they want from their businesses. I do that by helping them become laser-like focus on the six key components of their companies.

VISION—Vision is about getting everyone in the organization on the same page regarding where the company is going and how it’s going to get there. I help leaders crystalize their vision through eight critical questions and tools that ensure its shared by all.

PEOPLE—A company cannot achieve a great vision without great people. Every organization defines great people differently, so I cut through the popular vernacular and straight to the heart of what makes yours a company of great people. I support this with methodologies designed to put the Right People in the Right Seats.

DATA—Simply put, this means running a business on facts, figures, and objective information, rather than feelings, egos, and subjective emotions. I facilitate this through the consistent use of Scorecards and Measurables.

ISSUES—The goal here is to become proficient at solving problems as they arise—and solving them forever. The underlying methodologies focus on the creation of issues lists and a proven process for prioritizing and solving everything that’s on them.

PROCESS—This component is about getting the most important stuff in the business done the right way—and best way—every time. The relevant tools are used to document critical processes and ensure that they are followed by everyone who touches them

TRACTION—This is about driving vision down to the ground and executing on it, day in and day out. I facilitate this through tools called Rocks and the Level-10 Meeting™.
